On Saturday, September 12th 2004, 8:30, the great show combinig projection of classical silent movie Battleship Potemkin and Pet Shop Boys live performance accompanied by the Dresden Symphonic Orchestra took place in London at the Trafalgar Square. Music was composed by the german composer Torsten Rasch. The show was organised by ICA (Institute of contemporary arts), which asked PSB at the beginning of 2004 for cooperation on the project. 73 minutes long performance is mostly instrumental, but it also contain three new PSB tracks inspired by the movie. Free event attracted 25,000 people. At the time, The Independent newspaper noted that "this must be the largest audience for an art movie ever recorded". Since then Pet Shop Boys with the Dresdner Sinfoniker have performed the music with the film in 2005 in Frankfurt, Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg and in 2006 in Dresden (as part of the 800th anniversary celebrations of the city). On May 1st, 2006, Pet Shop Boys with the Northern Sinfonia performed the music with the film at a special event at Swan Hunter's shipyard, Wallsend, presented by the Newcastle Gateshead Initiative.
